Fresh Mashy

I don’t know about all of you, but I grew up idolizing Nomar (and Mo Vaughn). Whether is was his signature batting regime, his ridiculous defense, that game where he hit two grand slams and a three-run homer (I was there), or the fact that he married Mia Hamm and bred children with her, I have been and forever will be, obsessed with this man.

Basically Nomar was a free agent, and past his time. He had gone to a few other teams after the Sox, but never was quite the same player. A few weeks ago, he contacted the Red Sox. Today he signed a minor league contract with the Bean Bombers, to then turn an announce is retirement. He wanted nothing more than to retire with the good ol’ Boston boys, and he did it in style with his wife, kids, and father present. (Father’s name is Ramon; Nomar spelled backwards)

“This is where I started, this is where the dream to play baseball in the big league started here, with the Red Sox,” he said. “Once I got to play in front of all these fans, and the way this city and all these fans embraced me, I mean, I always just felt that connection. Like I said, for me, I always said I truly wanted this to be the last uniform I ever put on. And today, I get to do that. And that’s why it’s so important to me.”

“Everyone has to come to a point where they have to retire. For me, I think, what really hit was working out this offseason, the genetic (leg) condition I have that has limited me over the years, I just couldn’t work out the way I wanted to work out. You know, I had a teammate and friend who once said he knew the last day he played he said, ‘I knew my tank was empty.’ When I heard him say that quote, I thought it was one of the greatest quotes I’ve heard. I thought, I wish someday I could say that. There was one day this offseason where I was getting ready and I came home and told my wife, ‘My tank’s empty.’ ” It truly is. I really just gave everything that I could to this game, and as much as I could.”

This guy is the best, and I applaud the Red Sox organization for assisting in this dream of his.

So, not to go overboard with Sammy Adams, but I think he did a great job sampling one of his beats.

Walking On Broken Glass — Annie Lennox

Driving Me Crazy — Samuel Adams

I was skeptical at first; a white college kid rapping? Ha. I laughed. But I ate my words when I first listened to “Driving Me Crazy” and “Coast to Coast” off his new EP released yesterday on iTunes. Both songs are so legit and are ultimate bangers. The EP is currently ranked 1st overall in the Hip Hop/Rap section of iTunes, over Lil Wayne, DJ Khalad, and other notable rappers. Overall on iTunes, Wiz Adams’ album ranks fourth. For an EP, that is off the chain, and the scary part is that it is continuing to climb. He has to attribute a lot of his success to the power of the internet. Wizzy Adams has publicized himself through web mediums such as BroBible, YouTube, FreshNewTracks, and many others.

Best Song: Driving Me Crazy
First Mate: Coast to Coast
Sleeper Pick: Just Love Here

Head over to The Warren, an up and coming blog that I see having tons of potential, and personally made me laugh. I don’t laugh a lot apparently.
